Several Westhill High School students have formed a group to help people out during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Westhill Angels, as they're called, started a fundraising campaign for Stamford Hospital, which is now at more than $6,000.
"An angel often swoops in to help you when you need it the most," says Talian Kunin, one of the members of the group.
The group is in the middle of a book drive for Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County.
"We have a lot of down time now with this distance learning, and to do something that's good for the community means a lot," says Nate Cooper, another group member.
Westhill Angels has also donated meals to staff at an assisted living center in Norwalk and to teachers at CLC in Stamford, which remains open to care for essential workers' kids.
The teens are also looking to expand their good deeds and go grocery shopping for people as well.
Group founder Lorenzo Mazzara says he started Westhill Angels after being inspired by the medical professionals and nonprofits providing critical needs during the pandemic.
"Even if we do small actions, if we combine all of them together, we can make a big difference during this period," he says.
More information on the Westhill Angels can be found here, and their GoFundMe page can be found here.
