The Weston man accused of bombing empty buildings and portable toilets pleaded guilty Monday to one count of maliciously destroying property by means of explosive materials.
Bruce Forest is accused of setting off several explosions throughout Weston, Norwalk and the surrounding area during 2005 and 2006. The U.S. attorney says the charge Forest pleaded guilty to is related to the use of an M4 assault rifle last February to blow up a portable toilet in Weston.
Forest was facing 14 charges, which could have resulted in a prison sentence of more than 100 years. Instead, under the plea bargain, Forest faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years. However, his attorney says with time off for good behavior and time served, Forest could be released in 2010. Forest?s sentencing is scheduled for May 3.
Forest has been out on a two-week house arrest to go to several doctors? appointments. During that time, police have been on 24-hour surveillance outside of his Spring Valley Road home. Related Information
