Westport firefighters battled the elements as well as the flames at a home on Canal Road Friday afternoon.
Trucks had to make their way through flood waters to reach the home.
No one was home at the time, and News 12 is told a neighbor was able to rescue the family dog before crews arrived.
The cause is under investigation.
