Westport Pride is hosting their second ever celebration this afternoon at Staples High School.
The celebration will feature a select group of community speakers, performers, local clergy as well as political leaders.
The founder of Westport Pride tells News 12 having conversations about the different types of families in town will create visibility and will help students express themselves.
"It starts to allow those kids who might be struggling or feel unseen to at least know they're welcome," says Brian McGunagle.
Rain or shine the event will still go on, although it was originally planned to be on Jesup Green. It begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 3 p.m.
