‘Whatever it takes.’ Darien donation drive aims to help California wildfire victims
The drive was slated to close Monday, instead they stopped accepting donations Sunday after overwhelming support from the community.

It was all hands-on deck in Darien for those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.
Kathy Arris says she could not sit and do nothing while she watched the horrifying images of the blazes ravaging through the City of Angels.
Arris contacted Amy Daniels, the executive director of The Depot, and they began to get the ball rolling on organizing a donation drive.
"We want to do whatever we can to help any of them clothing, whatever it takes,” said Arris.
"They've come up with a creative way to demonstrate that generosity by holding a clothing drive…this is terrific,” said First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky.
The drive began Saturday morning. In under three hours, more than 100 bags of clothing were dropped off at the community center.
"It's very heartwarming but also not surprising,” said Daniels.
“It's obviously very important, I think it's a good thing that even being as far away from California as we are, there's a lot of people who care and can show support,” said volunteer Tyler Spellman.
The drive closed Sunday.
Arris says the plan is to send the shipment out on Tuesday.
