The wife of the man that Fairfield police say they were forced to shoot and kill last week is now out of the hospital and defending her husband's memory.
Christopher Andrews, 51, was shot after police say he attacked his family with a baseball bat and knife and then refused to put down his weapon.
Andrews' wife, Kathleen, issued a statement thanking the community for its support yesterday.
She said: "The loss of my beloved husband and adored father of my children has left our family irrevocably changed and utterly devastated. With time, more will be understood about exactly what took place last Tuesday. However, today we pray for my husband, Chris and my children."
Kathleen Andrews also said reports of that morning's events and her husband's actions were inaccurate and disappointing.
There was no word on her 12-year-old son who was last said to be in serious condition in the hospital.
