A Bridgeport woman who is fighting for her life is also fighting to avoid losing her home.
Olivia Bravo says she is suffering from excruciating pain due to stage-four bone cancer, which has spread to her liver. Her doctor has given her only two months to live.
Bravo says she and her 14-year-old daughter are terrified that they will soon be evicted from their Putnam Avenue home. The only other family they have is in Puerto Rico, so Bravo says they would have no place else to go.
The 40-year-old has not been able to work in more than a year due to the cancer, she says. This has caused her to fall behind on her rent, leading to the possible eviction.
Bravo's daughter, Jelanie, has recently undergone open-heart surgery, and is also struggling with her health.
City Councilwoman Milta Feliciano says she started a fund to help the family stay in their apartment. A local sheriff says that he is working with Bravo's landlord to help delay the eviction due to her circumstances.
