A house fire in Bridgeport claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman Friday morning.

Fire investigators say the flames broke out at 389 Saunders Ave. They say Charlotte Keoshegerian was found unconscious on her kitchen floor by rescue crews. Neighbor John James says he tried unsuccessfully to save Keoshegerian.

?I went downstairs, I looked out the door ? I started bamming on the door and no response,? James says.

Investigators say the fire began in a bedroom. They say the home did not have working smoke alarms. Fire crews are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
