(04/27/09) FAIRFIELD (AP) - A Connecticut woman says in a newlawsuit that she feared for her life after Fairfield police broke apromise and released information about her when she helped them inan attempted rape case.
The woman, identified only as "Jane Doe" in the lawsuitagainst police, says she suffers anxiety and emotional distress.
The lawsuit says the woman provided information that helpedpolice arrest 26-year-old Eric Julian of Fairfield last November oncharges he tried to rape a 16-year-old girl.
The woman says police promised her confidentiality, but thenannounced publicly that they received help from a woman Julian wascharged with raping in 2002.
Fairfield's town attorney says police don't believe they didanything wrong because the woman had said she would be willing totestify against Julian.
