A woman who left North Carolina to escape Hurricane Florence ended up losing her car in Tuesday's storms in Connecticut.
Nancy Toth was staying in her late mother's home in Middlesex, North Carolina, but decided to get out of town last week because of Hurricane Florence. She drove to Bridgeport, where she was staying in an apartment on Kennedy Drive.
Tuesday night, her luck changed when flash flooding struck Bridgeport, damaging her car.
"I mean you come here from North Carolina avoiding a hurricane, and you come to a state that is supposed to be safe and not have a flood," says Toth.
Toth says her car is a total loss and now she has no way to get back down South. Toth says she only has liability insurance on the car so she isn't sure what to do next.
