The Woodbridge police chief says his officers did not racially profile two campaign workers last week.
The volunteers, who were working for state senate candidate Sean Grace, said officers harassed them, even after they proved they were working for a campaign.
The police chief says an internal investigation is now closed.
Woodbridge Police Chief Frank Capiello said, “The police department's response was thorough, expeditious and impartial. It involved absolutely no racial bias whatsoever on the part of the responding officers."
Capiello says unregistered solicitors had recently targeted the neighborhood.
Although he denied allegations of racial profiling, the Capiello promised "additional training for situations of this kind."
