A Norwalk soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II was finally laid to rest Friday at Arlington National Cemetery.
Staff Sgt. Martin Troy was shot down over Hungary during a bombing on June 30, 1944. His remains were only recovered last year and identified recently through DNA.
Troy's sister Julia was at the burial ceremony and says it is what her brother deserves.
"As time went on I never thought he'd be found at all," she says. "I just assumed there was nothing left there. He was good to me growing up, being the baby you know. He was a great brother."
Jerry Conlon was present the day Troy was killed. He says he can rest now knowing all the men from that mission are finally home.
"The big thing is the guy is home and that's what counts," says Conlon. "Every soldier has the right to know he won't be forgotten."
