An event on Saturday will raise money for a Bridgeport teen who is battling brain cancer but remains determined to make the best of his situation.
Zaire Hall, 15, is a sophomore at Kolbe Cathedral High School on Washington Avenue. He had surgery in January to remove a brain tumor, but went back into the hospital on Tuesday due to serious complications. His next round of chemotherapy is next week.
Even though he was only discharged on Thursday, he was back at school on Friday, determined to continue his education. The teen says he finds strength in his friends and in his routine.
Hall's mom says the past nine months have been a grueling test. She says she is looking for a new hospital and possibly a new treatment plan altogether.
The Bridgeport nonprofit group We Care is holding a walk at Seaside Park on Saturday, and they say half of the money raised will go toward helping Hall's family pay for his medical expenses.
