Technology could eliminate snow days for some students in Connecticut.
Staff at Easton Country Day School still have to work when there is a snow day and they use Google Classroom to grade work from home.
As more parents work from home, schools are now exploring whether children can too.
At least eight states, including Maine and Pennsylvania, already allow kids to attend school from home during snow days.
Region 9 School Superintendent Tom McMorran says it’s easy to implement.
“You can see how a high school junior English teacher could just get online with kids and have them join a Google Hangout,” McMorran says.
But it may be more difficult to get younger kids to do that, parents say.
Lawmakers in Hartford would have to change state law to let school systems swap out snow days.
