A disabled Bridgeport woman told News 12 Saturday that she is lucky to be alive after surviving a brutal knife attack on Tuesday.
Shalamar Rogers, 29, who is the mother of four daughters, says her faith in God kept her alive after she received two 6-inch stab wounds on the left side of her neck.
"I believe in God and he was actually the one who saved me. I was saying, ‘Please God, no, I'm not ready. Please,’” she told News 12.
Police say 26-year-old Ashley Jackson, of Bridgeport, is facing charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault. The incident took place at the Quality Inn on South Avenue in Stratford.
Rogers says Jackson attacked her without provocation during an out-of-control party. She says a total stranger used bath towels to compress her wounds and stop her bleeding, then stayed with her until help arrived.
“I thank God for him because if it wasn't for him, I would have been dead," said Rogers. “I want justice to be served, because this is wrong. She could have killed me."
