Fireworks will always be an important part of the Fourth of July, but in the state of Connecticut, they are illegal.
State law says: Fireworks are not allowed by law in Connecticut for use by non-professional, non-licensed users. Sparklers and fountains, which technically are not considered fireworks, may be sold, but may not legally be sold to or used by persons younger than 16.
To keep the colorful tradition going, customers stopped by the TNT Fireworks on Summer Street in Stamford where they can find sparklers and rocket fountains.
"We don't have any aerials that go 30 feet high. Neighbors don't have to be concerned about debris going on a rooftop…firefighters are not going to be out trying to put out a fire," says Patrick Caltabiano.
Even though sparklers and fountains are legal, state officials say they can still be dangerous if used incorrectly. Caltabiano says its important adults use caution, especially when children are around.
