As many college students graduate from various schools, some are left wondering what they are going to do for the rest of their lives.

Rayann Havasy, executive director of the Center for Science Teaching and Learning in Rockville Centre, says jobs for new grads are on the rise, especially in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

She says if students majored in anything STEM-related, especially the fields of artificial intelligence or cybersecurity, they are looking at “a guaranteed job in about 10 minutes.”

“In the United States at any given time, there are only 100 graduates in the field. So I guess I'm here today to say STEM, STEM, STEM,” she says.

Havasy says the need for these jobs, in both the public and private sector, is at an all-time high, and encourages new college students to consider them.

She says the STEM industry will continue to grow, and there are some great programs at colleges on Long Island, including at Hofstra University, Stony Brook and NYIT.
