Authorities in Essex County have identified the man struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit bus Thursday evening.

Umberto Lombardo, 78, was struck and killed near the intersection of Centre Street and Bloomfield Avenue.

Officials say that the bus driver was trying to make a left onto Centre Street when Lombardo was struck around 8 p.m.

There were no obvious signs of impairment, according to authorities. The bus driver is not facing any charges at this time.
