Part of a major road in Stamford was shut down this morning as police responded to a swatting incident.
It happened around 2 a.m. in the 1300 block of Bedford Street.
Police say they got a call from a man claiming to be a realtor, saying he'd broken into one of the homes on the street.
According to police, he said he wanted to kill himself, and that he planted four bombs inside and outside the home.
Police say the man also told them he had a rifle and a handgun, and to not approach him because he had his 8-year-old son with him.
The phone call lasted around 25 minutes.
Police say they tried to call the man back, but were unsuccessful.
The Hostage Negotiation and SWAT teams, and the Bomb Squad were all called in and they told the people inside to come out.
Police say the people inside had no idea what was going on, so police determined it was a swatting incident.
The scene was cleared around 5:15 a.m.
Police say they do have a person of interest.
They believe he's regional, and say if caught he can face falsely reporting an incident, reckless endangerment and harassment charges.
