A family of 11 people is safe after they were stranded on Shea Island off the coast of Norwalk.
Police say the family's boat began to take on water after it scraped a sand bar Saturday night while on the Long Island Sound.
They say the family was forced to anchor the boat and swim back to Shea Island, where they originally made camp.
Officers first spotted the family when they saw lights from cellphones.
Police confirmed that the entire family made it to shore safely. They say two children were evaluated for hypothermia, but are OK.
