A 15-month-old child from Litchfield County died Tuesday after his mother called 911 to report he was unresponsive. 

The Torrington Police Department says responders arrived at 420 South Main St. around 10:54 a.m. The child was found unresponsive in the bathtub, according to an initial report. 

The child was then taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, where he later died.

Police say the child's mother was not home at the time of the incident and that the child was in the care of another adult. The mother called 911 when she came back home and was made aware of the incident.

It is unclear whether there was any foul play involved in the child's death.
