One year after a powerful tornado tore through parts of Connecticut, damage is still visible as some towns await relief money from FEMA.
Officials say on May 15, 2018, the entire town of Southbury was without power and over 135 roads were closed.
A tornado touched down with 100 mph winds, knocked down large trees, street signs, and power lines.
The First Selectman Jeff Manville says town workers disposed of 37,000 cubic yards of debris and have requested $1.4 million from FEMA.
Several towns are also still recovering from strong storms that came through a year ago this week.
In Newtown, town officials say they submitted several claims to FEMA totaling $3 million.
But, they say they have not received any money yet.
Officials in Brookfield say 12 homes remain unlivable because of the violent weather.
Other towns were also hit hard by the storm. Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden remains closed due to damage.
