Two Bridgeport men went before a judge Wednesday in connection with a violent home invasion in Stratford.
Police say Jonathan Ortega, 30, and Victor Larrea, 34, pistol-whipped two people sitting on a porch outside of a home on Birdseye Street at around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Police say the two men forced their way inside, pistol-whipped two other people and then held all four at gunpoint while they ransacked the house and stole money, jewelry and electronics. Police say there was also a third accomplice involved, but the suspect remains at large.
Police say the two ran to a nearby motel on Honeyspot Road, where officers arrested them a short time later.
Court officials say the men were placed under bonds totaling $1 million due to the seriousness of the crime.
The men are due back in court later this month.
