Two firefighters were injured and a dog was killed in a Stamford house fire, officials say.
The fire happened Sunday at 295 Cove Road around 10:43 p.m.
Fire officials say they were able to quickly contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the house next door.
Officials say the two-family house suffered significant fire damage on both levels and attic.
A family dog was found by firefighters during their search of the residence but had already succumbed to the smoke and heat.
Two firefighters were evaluated and treated at the scene for minor injuries. The firefighters were not transported to the hospital and returned to duty following the fire.
Firefighters located a family dog during their search of the home, but they say the dog had already died because of the smoke and heat from the fire.
The Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
