A 20-year-old from Monroe is recovering in a hospital in Oregon after suffering a stroke in July.
Christopher Stead's life made an unexpected turn back in July. The 2020 Fairchild Wheeler high school graduate had a stroke while living in Oregon and his family is now trying to raise money to get him back to Connecticut.
Stead's mother tells News 12 her son was going to college in Oregon.
On July 21, he complained of a severe headache and that he couldn't see. He was taken to the hospital and was given a craniotomy, which is a surgical procedure removing part of the bone from the skull to expose the brain.
Stead's family is raising money for an air ambulance so he can get treatment at Yale-New Haven Hospital and be home with family.
His mother says he has no prior medical history, so this stroke comes as a complete shock and especially because of his age.
