Extreme Heat Warning in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday.

WHAT TO KNOW:

Honestly, the only place to elude the fierce heat is by staying inside in air-conditioning. But the beach is a nice alternative. Be safe and swim in front of lifeguards and make sure to continuously reapply sunscreen throughout the day. The UV Index is going to be a very high 9.

Temperatures will again climb into the low, mid and upper 90s for daytime highs on Saturday. The Fourth is not unaccustomed to intense heat, but stringing together three days of near 100 degrees is a rarity for these parts. Showers and storms later in the evening will immediately bring the temps down for Sunday and a more organized cluster of showers and storms will bring an end to the heat wave completely Sunday night into Monday
