Now that the General Assembly is back in session, it's the perfect opportunity to see history in the making and lawmakers in action at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford.
The Capitol was constructed from 1872 to 1878 with Victorian Gothic architecture. Visitors can check out the historic patterns from the time along with the statue of the state's first female governor in 1974, Ella Grasso.
On tour to the House of Representatives and the Senate lay other statues, including Nathan Hale and Prudence Crandall - two state icons who represent the fight for justice.
This building has a lot of whispers and a lot of history to explore, making it worth the trip for history buffs.
The Connecticut State Capitol is open for tours on weekdays. Reservations are requested.
