Police officers encourage lawmakers to pass bill in honor of K-9 killed in the line of duty

Police officers and their K-9 dogs from across the state were in Hartford Thursday to encourage lawmakers to pass Broko's Bill.
Broko was a state police K-9 who was killed in the line of duty in Stonington in December.
State police were serving an arrest warrant to Vaughn Malloy, who at first refused to surrender and then opened fire killing Broko.
The law would require up to $10,000 in restitution for killing or injuring a K-9 officer.
"This is a day to validate our law enforcement and our law enforcement representatives that have four legs, our K-9 officers," says State Sen. Heather Somers (R-Groton).
The money would re-coup towns for the money they spent training a fallen police dog.
