Police in Weston are reminding homeowners to lock their doors and make sure their security systems are functioning properly after two homes were burglarized in town.

"It's very violating to feel like someone is breaking into your house," Amy Guzzi says. "I think everyone needs to stay vigilant."

Police say someone stole jewelry from a home on Lyons Plain Road over the weekend.

Various items from a home on Old Hyde Road were also stolen.

In both burglaries, police say, the perpetrator gained access through first-floor windows, breaking them and completely removing them.

Capt. Joe Micheli believes they are isolated incidents, and police believe multiple suspects were involved.

"These types of crimes can be very unsettling," Capt. Micheli says. "Weston is consistently ranked as one of the safest communities in not only the state, but the entire nation."

Since the perpetrators gained access through windows, Capt. Micheli is urging residents to have motion sensing lights on their homes.

If you have a security system, he says, make sure all cameras and alarms are charged and functioning properly.

"Not happy, obviously," Weston homeowner Dennis Samuels says. "I hope police find the culprits and make sure they're adequately punished."

Anyone with information should contact Weston police at 203-222-2639.
