Coney Island robbery suspects caught on surveillance video

Police are searching for four people accused of stealing a vehicle in Coney Island during what was supposed to be an online marketplace exchange.
News 12 obtained exclusive surveillance video that appears to show the suspects carrying out the crime.
According to the footage, a vehicle was parked on West 29th Street for at least an hour last Tuesday.
Just after 6 p.m., one man can be seen getting into the front passenger seat. Moments later, the same man runs out of the car while another person walks along the sidewalk. The parked vehicle then drives away.
Police say the incident stemmed from a meeting arranged through an online marketplace. Investigators say a 35-year-old man had agreed to meet a stranger he connected with online to sell merchandise. Authorities say four people plotted to rob him instead.
Police allege the suspects pulled out a gun, demanded the victim’s car keys and then drove away with his vehicle — a black 2024 Chrysler Pacifica.
“Compared to some real violence in our neighborhood, that's a small thing,” said one nearby resident. “Still, it’s kind of scary if someone pulls a gun on you.”
Another resident said they were surprised to hear about the robbery but noted that carjackings and similar crimes frequently make headlines.
It’s unclear why the victim chose to meet on the residential block.
The NYPD recommends conducting online marketplace transactions in designated e-commerce exchange zones, such as outside local police precincts. Officials say taking extra precautions can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of theft or robbery.
Anyone with information about the four suspects or the whereabouts of the stolen black 2024 Chrysler Pacifica, with the NY License Plate LKK5565, is asked to contact the NYPD.
