Officials: Multiple people hospitalized after 3-car collision in Monroe

Police say a vehicle heading north on Wheeler Road failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection and was hit by a vehicle traveling on Route 110. A second vehicle was then struck while on Route 110.

Multiple people were hospitalized following a three-car collision in Monroe on Monday, according to police.

It happened at 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 110 and Wheeler Road.

Police say a vehicle heading north on Wheeler Road failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection and was hit by a vehicle traveling on Route 110. A second vehicle was then struck while on Route 110.

A total of six people - three drivers and three passengers - were involved in the crash.

The Monroe Volunteer Fire Department extricated one person. The remaining five people were taken to area hospitals for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

The fire department says as of 8:25 p.m., Route 110 is closed between Moose Hill Road and Old Tannery Road due to the crash. Traffic is being detoured around the crash site.
