Mayor: Water fully restored to Stratford following water main breaks

Water has been fully restored in Stratford following two water main breaks, Mayor David Chess said.
In a Facebook post, Chess wrote that as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, water was restored to all properties and fire hydrants.
Emergency crews had been working for hours to repair two water main breaks that flooded Huntington Road near the Merritt Parkway and began affecting the north end of Stratford on Tuesday afternoon.
The breaks caused a traffic nightmare and left customers in parts of Trumbull and Shelton with discolored water, too.
Chess said about half of Stratford was initially without water, but thanks to the quick response from emergency crews, Aquarion Water Authority says that number was down to about 50 homes as of 6 p.m. Tuesday. Customers in parts of Trumbull and Shelton were also impacted.
Aquarion says some customers may notice cloudy water - even after service is restored. Officials say running cold water for several minutes should clear it.
