State Sen. Joe Pennacchio is calling for a federal investigation into NJ voters registration system after reports that thousands of non-citizens were mistakenly registered to vote, and tens of thousands of people were included in the state’s jury pool.

Pennacchio said the reported errors raise serious concerns and argued the issue warrants immediate review.

He is also renewing his push for legislation that would require voter registration records to be cross-checked with jury selection data to help identify and remove ineligible registrations.

The senator said the governor's call for an independent investigation a "whitewash.”

The senator is urging federal authorities to examine how the errors occurred and whether additional oversight is needed, while also calling on state officials to cooperate fully and strengthen safeguards.
