There is a new push to end cash bail in Connecticut.
Supporters of the proposal planted 3,500 flags in front of the state Capitol on Thursday. That number is the number of people who are in custody and awaiting trial because they can’t afford to post bail.
New York restricted cash bail in 2019, but Gov. Kathy Hochul scaled back the changes after judges complained about violent suspects being set free.
President Donald Trump also threatened to pull funding from states that end cash bail.
