Fire: 1 person and dog rescued from boat taking on water in Stamford

A person and their dog were rescued after their vessel began taking on water in Stamford Wednesday, fire officials say.
The Stamford Emergency Communications Center says it received call from the U.S. Coast Guard that a 24-foot vessel was taking on water off of Westcott Cove just before 1:30 a.m.
Members of the department's dive team and Stamford EMS responded. They used a drone with infrared imaging capabilities to find and contact the vessel.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found the vessel's engine compartment submerged, which caused it to lose power.
One person and a dog were on board, but neither were injured.
Officials say firefighters were able to secure the vessel, stop the flooding and prevented the vessel from being fully submerged.
The vessel was then towed to a boat ramp and removed from the water.
