A Stratford man has been arrested after police say 10 dogs were found in his backyard in horrific conditions.
Malik Powell faces several charges, including nine counts of animal cruelty and nine counts of confinement of dogs.
On Sept. 4, police responded to Powell's home on Allencrest Drive for a complaint regarding the welfare and living conditions of dogs.
Ten dogs, which included eight puppies, were found in the backyard. All needed emergency medical treatment but are now recovering at Stratford Animal Control.
Although their prognosis is good, the dogs will need further veterinary care.
The shelter is currently raising money to pay for that care.
Powell is expected to be back in court in October.
