Police in Bridgeport say a woman and two boys are lucky to be alive after they were struck by a speeding car and pushed into to the side of a building.
It happened Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 at Junco's Restaurant on Harrall Avenue and was captured on surveillance video.
According to police, the vehicle slammed into the business, striking three people. All were rushed to hospitals with serious injuries.
Police say the force and angle of the impact combined to cause one of the boys to come very close to having both legs amputated, but doctors at Yale-New Haven Hospital operated for hours and ended up saving his legs.
Police add that the woman pushed one of the boys just before the impact, risking her own life while doing so, in order to save his.
Police say the victims are now recovering.
The driver, Allen Pearson, 37, was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center with injuries. Pearson has been charged with reckless driving, failure to stop and having no insurance on the vehicle. The driver's 2003 Acura was also not registered.
Police say that there are no skid marks on the street next to the accident, suggesting the driver did not apply any brakes before the crash.
