Three Stamford High School students were sentenced to five years behind bars after pleading guilty to robbing an elderly woman.

The incident occurred last December at an 81-year-old woman?s home on Hamilton Avenue. Police say Jesse Solano, Darius Jones and Timothy Robinson planned the burglary after school last year. They say the three teens broke in through a window, tied a rope around the woman?s neck, cut phone lines and robbed her of cash and valuables.

One of the teen?s attorneys feels the sentence is too harsh for teenagers. However, Senior Assistant to the State?s Attorney Maureen Ornosky says the sentence was part of a plea negotiation. She says the sentence was an agreed upon disposition that was worked out with all attorneys and that it should have come as no surprise.
