Some Darien residents are up in arms after town officials have proposed to cut down a section of the woods surrounding Baker Park in order to install a storm water basin.
Sallie Bohrer, who has lived in Darien for 24 years, says the town's plan to remove 300 trees will damage the park's natural beauty.
However, Darien's First Selectwoman Evonne Klein says the $4 million project is necessary because it will improve the drainage of an area that is prone to flooding.
Darien residents will have a chance to speak out on the proposal during a public meeting next Thursday.
