A charity game will honor the memory of a lacrosse player who was fatally stabbed at a party.

The proceeds from the game in honor of Jimmy McGrath will go to Bridgeport Youth Lacrosse.

Kevin McGrath recalled just how much his son loved lacrosse.

"They would have practice in the morning, in the afternoon they'd come out and help all the young girls and boys learn how to play lacrosse, practice their stick skills. He really loved that," said McGrath.

Jimmy McGrath was fatally stabbed at a party following an altercation in May 2022.

His family says his legacy and his memory will live on.

"He was a serious lacrosse player, but he also loved to have fun," said McGrath.

On Sunday, nearly 50 teams from Fairfield and New Haven counties will face off in the Reindeer Games.

Don Wilson, the founder of the Bridgeport Youth Lacrosse program, says funds from the event will provide kids with countless opportunities.

"We just want to make sure we're building a community that supports the youth that we serve here in the city of Bridgeport," said Wilson.

The charity game will take place on Dec. 16 at Puglio Park.
