A fire completely destroyed a Southport home and hospitalized four people.
Officials say the fire began around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Morehouse Lane, just off Hulls Farm Road.
According to the fire chief, a family of six was home at the time of the fire.
The fire chief says the first floor was completely engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
Everyone inside made it out before crews got there. News 12 is told one of the individuals had to jump out of a window to escape.
The family says one of their dogs was injured and the other is still missing.
Two other family members were brought to the hospital with minor injuries, and a fourth is being treated for smoke inhalation.
News 12 is told the family will be staying with friends during their recovery.
Officials advise residents to be careful during the holidays, as the town has recently responded to several cooking fires. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
