Three boaters are being hailed as heroes for helping rescue four kayakers who were in trouble off the coast of Stamford.
It happened Monday evening.
Fire officials say the boaters had just set off when they heard a distress call on the radio carried by one of the men who is also a volunteer firefighter.
The pilot of the boat remembered seeing two adults and two kids kayaking on his way past Wallacks Point and was able to pluck all four from the 54-degree water.
All four kayakers were wearing life preservers and are expected to be OK.
