Fairfield police say five people are facing charges for stealing expensive car parts.
Police arrested the suspects yesterday near Scap Motors on Tunxis Hill Road.
They are accused of trying to steal catalytic converters with a battery-powered saw.
Police say the thieves would probably get about $100 to $150 for the scrap metal in the converters which are used to reduce engine emissions.
