Hundreds of people laced up their sneakers for a good cause Sunday.
The Winter Sprinter 5K was held in Milford. The event was sponsored by Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut.
Organizers say they hope to raise money and bring awareness to illiteracy, especially among children and those who are learning English as a second language.
The winner of the 5K was Elliot McGann, of Hamden, who finished the race in 18 minutes and 56 seconds.
