An 82-year-old woman is facing charges after Stamford police say she was behind the wheel in a 12-car accident.

It happened at an apartment complex at 71 Strawberry Hill Ave. back in October.

According to police, Mercedes Garcia was backing out of a parking space when she hit a parked car, kept going, and then hit at least eight more cars.

Police say one of those cars hit a pedestrian, who was left in critical condition.

Garcia has been charged with one count of assault.
