After the seizure of five horses from a farm in an animal cruelty case, News 12 Connecticut viewers had questions as to what happens to the confiscated animals. It turns out the state has a unique way to care for them until they find new homes. Second Chance Barn gives large farm animals a second chance at life. More than 200 animals have been through the barn since 2003, all taken in under terrible circumstances, and nursed back to health by others also seeking a second chance.The barn is located at the York Correction Facility in Niantic, where inmates do most of the work.
