The non-profit organization behind the development of an affordable housing complex in the Bronx held a 'topping off' ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the completion of the top floor.
Breaking Ground has helped low-income families find affordable housing for decades. The organization's latest project, The Park House, is focused on providing quality affordable housing.
The Park House is slated to have an on-site laundry facility, 24-hour security and a community room. It will even feature a green roof, making the complex environmentally friendly.
"You know this is tremendous for the community. We always aim to build in communities and get folks' feedback before deciding what to build," says Brenda Rosen, the president and CEO of Breaking Ground. "So what we heard is that people need affordable housing, specifically people need two and three-bedroom apartments because your family grows, so I really think this is going to be a tremendous asset to the neighborhood."
The 250-unit complex is expected to be completed in 2017.
