Two groups dedicated to providing affordable housing to those in need came together Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the start of a new project in Stamford.
Inspirica and Charter Oak Communities broke ground on the Summer Place apartments on Summer Street.
The five-story building will have 48 affordable apartments for residents 55 or older.
Inspirica officials say this type of housing is desperately needed because as people age and need assistance with medical and everyday problems, they can feel a loss of dignity and quality of life.
Officials say the building will have supportive services for residents so they can maintain an independent lifestyle.
