Milford welcomed a new renewable energy company to the city on Friday.
Alternative energy company Solar City celebrated its grand opening on Friday. It offers an alternative to traditional electricity by providing customers with solar panels free of charge and pays for the upkeep and maintenance of them.
In exchange, customers only pay for the energy they use.
Solar City officials say interest in renewable energy is growing.
"Over the past three years we've seen this steady increase in customers and sales, which has allowed us to decide to open this facility," said Solar City East Coast Vice President Lee Keshishian.
The company expects to add up to 100 new jobs between the Milford location and its office in Rocky Hill.
