City officials say they are working to track down whoever scrawled anti-Semitic graffiti in Stratford this weekend.

They say swastikas and other symbols were found spray-painted onto traffic signs and a wall at the intersection of Wilcoxson Avenue and Charlton Street.

Max L. Rosenberg, who discovered the vandalism, says the message behind the vandalism cannot be trivialized, even if it was put there by teens who don't fully understand what these symbols represent.

There is no word yet on whether police have found any suspects responsible for the act.

A town spokesman said in a statement, "We are appalled by this insensitive and unacceptable graffiti, which is in no way representative of our community. The matter is being investigated thoroughly by the Stratford Police Department." The spokesman added that the person responsible will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
